Interview: Hayashi Runa - B.L.T. (April Issue)

I would like to be someone who can put their own personality into everything I do

ー First of all, what did you think at first when you heard that the theme of the shoot was "WHITE"?

I thought, "Will it be okay with me?" and, "I'm not the most appropriate person for WHITE". (bitter laugh)
However, I was really grateful that the staff curled my hair and shot me in a stylish way. As for me, I tried not to make too many facial expressions and tried to be as "natural/plain" as possible in the shoot.

ー So you didn't have a "white" image of yourself? If so, what color would you compare yourself to?

My favorite colors are pink and orange. But if I were to compare myself with a color...
What color would it be? Probably warm colors, I guess. Hmm, I think I haven't found my color yet.
If I consider myself to be "not yet dyed in any color", well, now I think that the color "white" could also apply to me.

ー Do you like working in the field of photography?

At first, I wasn't very good at it. I had no idea how to make eye contact with the camera. During the first photo shoot for the five new 4th Gen members, the staff told us "think of the camera as a person and be natural!", but I was like "?".
However, recently I finally understood what they meant, and as I became able to make eye contact with the camera lens, gradually I started to feel a sense of "joy".

ー During today's photo shoot, I was impressed by how happy you looked as you wrapped yourself in the bed sheet while laughing.

Maybe it's because here I was more relaxed, and I suddenly found myself laughing.
I don't know if that's good or bad though. (laughs)

ー Are those changes due to the experience you have gained?

It's not only the experience, but also the fact that I've had more opportunities to observe the attitude of my seniors and fellow members towards their work up close.

ー For example, whose attitude has influenced you?

Hori Miona-san. I think Hori-san is very good at creating and reading the atmosphere. Although she makes explosive statements out of the blue, I think she needs to find the right timing to make the people around her surprised. I thought she was amazing when I realized that she had a double structure in which she knows how to read the atmosphere and then she dares to say or do something that doesn't match the atmosphere.
In addition, (Hayakawa) Seira-chan, a fellow member, is very good at dancing and expressing herself. Moreover, she's not only good at dancing, but she's also very good at expressing herself in a way that makes people think, "Oh, that's just like Seira-chan!"

ー By watching Hori-san and Hayakawa-san, did you become more conscious of how to express your "self-like personality"?

That's right. I think that by observing (and learning from) them, I've been able to make myself look more like my normal self in recent shoots. I'm happy to hear that more and more of my fellow members say, "You look very like you in this picture!".

ー Speaking of "self-like personality", your own image as an "interesting/funny character" in Nogizaka Skits prevails over you, doesn't it?

I think it's important to establish your character first. When I considered what role I should assume among the five members of the new 4th Gen, I thought that I wanted to be a traditional idol, but I thought it'd be more memorable to be associated with a variety of aspects that had already been popular among the fans. (laughs)

ー You said you deliberately chose that character.

I thought, "Let's go for a reverse gap!". I wanted to show everyone how can be a gap between a variety character and the role as an idol in a live.

ー That's exactly what you did when you sang "Jibun no koto" in a solo at the 4th Gen' live last year. The response was big, wasn't it?

Yes, it was big. I felt that I was able to show a side of myself that I had never shown before. "Jibun no koto" was a turning point for me, and it made me think that I should continue to show various aspects of myself.

ー With that in mind, the composed expression on your face for this shoot gave me a sense of a gap as well.

I admire Hori-san, so I'd like to be a person who can show many sides of herself and put her own personality into all of them.

ー By the way, Hayashi-san, have you ever wanted to photograph someone? For example, your good friend Kakehashi Sayaka.

I want to photograph her, and to do the design as well! I'd like to combine the Sayaka I want to see and the Sayaka the fans want to see and come up with her hair, makeup, costumes, etc. I think Sayaka looks good in anything!

ー I think it'd be interesting to have a gravure project where the members do collaborations to design/produce each other.

I'd like to try it! Sounds fun!

ー Lastly, what does the word "gravure" mean to you?

For me, gravure is a place where I can show a different side of myself from my usual appearance, a place where I can look at myself objectively, and a place where I can learn how to establish my own character. Even now, I've discovered that I'm surprisingly good at this type of work, so I'd like to continue to show various aspects of myself through gravure!

(A pun with the senbatsu elections I guess)

I'm so happy right now that I'll start with a... don!

I had the pleasure to take this picture.

All of her hairstyles are really cute, and each of them are like a drama in their own right.

...........................................................................

Allow me to say it again, Happy New Year to everyone.

Sorry it's taken me so long to greet you in this new year.

But you've felt it, haven't you?,
a feeling like, "The new year has begun....?      No it hasn't ! ! ! ! ! ! "

I'm 17 years old and still immature, but I haven't felt that the year is over since I was a fetus.

Even so, the year is over.

Hello 2021.

Thank you very much for the performance at Kouhaku Uta Gassen.

I was on the right side of the screen.

In front of me were my strong seniors, and next to me was my beloved Nao.

I will do my best to be able to stand in that place again.

I'm sorry for being so short, but I'll write again soon!

Also, please check out my last week's column.

Adios!!!!!!!!

On the day we performed in Kohaku Uta Gassen, I had a small reunion with my former trainees before the show.

I talked to Mikuni

and she said, "I couldn't imagine this future one year ago"

those words really buried themselves deep in my mind.

Blog: Hayashi Runa (December 31st)

Thank you very much. This is Runa Hayashi.  It may not be time to say " thank you for your hard work" yet, but I know some of you are tired so, thank you for your hard work.

...........................................................................

Miyu is writing a blog beside me.

I was going to take a picture of it, but I decided not to.

Adios!!!!!!!!

Miyu-chan took this one for me.

The perspective works!

P.S.
Yesterday I was wondering about from what song the line "~in a husky voice ♪ " was from. I couldn't remember at all, so I looked it up.

Was 『Heart Beats』!! So nostalgic~

I really like the part where it says, "Oh, seriously, I'm going crazy".

I've been listening to it for a long time after that.

Postscript!

I got a birthday gift from Miona-san!

I'm so excited~

26th single Individual PV - Hayashi Runa (Eng sub)

Hayashi Runa's Individual PV

This time Hayashi Runa show us a PV with a new combination of concepts that Nogizaka hasn't tried yet: Showbiz location box lunches.

"Location box lunch" is a box lunch made specifically for entertainers and industry people who need a reasonable amount of proteins and calories to endure the strenuous world of showbiz.
In this PV, as the main point, Hayashi shows us those that are currently at the top in her own unique way.

Makeruna! Shogeruna! Noriokureruna! #9 (January 23rd)

Exercise your brain with a famous game theory problem     How to go to heaven?

Here's one I forgot to put on my blog.

It's Hayashi Runa, a 4th gen member from Nogizaka46.

Every time I look at the calendar or the lock screen of my phone, I think, "it's already the next month, huh?".

I'm relieved to see that the speed of time in my mind hasn't changed.

I'm currently working on a thesis titled, "Game Theory: Telepathy and Communication" and while I was writing it, I remembered a famous problem.

I'm sure many of you are familiar with it, and I'd like to invite you to see it as well.

→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→

You died due to an oversupply of oshimens.

You're walking down the street thinking, "I wanna go to heaven~",
then at a certain point, you come to a place where the road forks in two,
and there are two gates with a guard standing in front of each gate who looks exactly the same.

And there's a warning that says:

- You may only ask one question per gate.
- One keeper is honest, but the other always lies.

What question can I ask to find out which is the gate to heaven?

→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→→

In this case, there is no guarantee that the honest guard will be standing at the gate to heaven.

So, there are these two possible patterns.

Pattern A

To heaven = honest
To hell = Liar

Pattern B

To heaven = Liar
To hell = honest

Did you already get the right question?

The correct question to do to the guards is...

"Is the gate behind you the gate to heaven?
And tell me, would you answer "yes"?"

Just with this...

Pattern A

Honest

"The gate behind me is the gate to heaven. So I'd say "yes"."

→「Yes」

Liar

The gate behind me is the gate to hell.
That's why I lie and say "yes" even though the answer is really "no".
So the answer is "yes" but it's a lie.

→「No」

Next, Pattern B

Honest

The gate behind me is the gate to hell. So I'd answer "no".

 →「No」

Liar

The gate behind me is the gate to heaven.

That's why I lie and say "no" even though the answer is really "yes".

So the answer is "no" but it's a lie.

→「Yes」

In other words, pattern A and pattern B both give the answer "yes" for going to heaven and "no" for going to hell.

Just like the mathematical rule, "negative x negative = positive" with negative numbers, a lie with a lie becomes true.

I hope this has helped you exercise your mind.

I'm sure you're wondering what's going on with me all of a sudden.

Well, speaking of sudden...

The music video of "Out of the blue", a song by the 4th gen members of Nogizaka46, is now available on YouTube!

And it's now available on all subscription and digital-paid sites!

We hope you enjoy it!

Please watch it.

※ The objective of this problem is to explain how to think "In a situation where there are interested parties, consider the interests of yourself and the other party and decide on the best course of action."

Makeruna! Shogeruna! Noriokureruna! #8 (January 17th)

Congratulations to all the new adults. Always hold on to your brakes.

Here, Hayashi Runa desu.

It's Nogizaka46's 4th gen, Hayashi Runa.

First of all, congratulations to all the new adults.

This year, all the ceremonies were scaled down, held at several locations, or announced to be cancelled at the last minute, as a precaution against the spread of the new coronavirus.

By the way, it's said that the first "coming-of-age ceremony" was held in Warabi-City in Saitama Prefecture.

The festival called "Seinen Matsuri" (Youth Festival) was held to "encourage the young people who will lead the next generation" (held on November 22, 1946).

After witnessing the festival, the Japanese government at that time decided to hold a festival to those young people who were "aware of themselves as members of the adult society and fulfill their social responsibilities.".

And in order to celebrate all those young people, the "Coming of Age Ceremony" was started in Japan.

Apparently, Warabi-City still calls the coming-of-age ceremony "Seinen-shiki" in honor to the youth festival. (the normal form is "seijin-shiki")

It also seems that the (style of the) coming-of-age ceremony, which was popularized in Japan, is highly evaluated overseas as "a dress that everyone finds beautiful".

However, my impression is that every year, on the morning after the coming-of-age ceremony, there are headlines on the news about people who have behaved in an unacceptable way.

It may has become a spectacle that "you see on the news every year.",
However, as someone who is still waiting for the coming-of-age ceremony, I'm wondering why it's happening, but maybe it's because they wanted to be freed from the suffocation of the world, "just for today!".

Please don't get too carried away.

Always hold on to your brakes and be safe, because suddenly braking can cause injury.

Once again, to all the new adults

Congratulations on your coming of age!!
